Only one company remains in the race to obtain the Campo Amistad concession. This is Green Dynamics, a consortium made up of Green Power and Mexico’s Repstim, a development specialist off the coast From gas. This Tuesday, November 7, Petroecuador, in accordance with the calendar, opened the first tender envelope for a contract for specific services integrated with contractor financing for the execution of drilling activities, well completions, well rehabilitation and construction and expansion of facilities within Block 6.

The tender seeks to increase Campo Amistad’s production to about 100 million cubic feet per day. Local gas production is key to the energy sustainability of the country, and even to the issue of producing more electricity through Termogás Machala.

Greater domestic gas production could alleviate the need to import gas for future low prices like what is currently happening in the country.

Envelope 1 corresponds to the technical offer in which there were five justifications and only one firm offer.

The process still has to complete other stages, such as the delivery of envelope 2, which is the economic offer, while the authorities have to check that all documentation, compliance with the basics, among other things, are satisfactorily respected.

On that topic, the general manager of Petroecuador, Reinaldo Armijos, explained that despite all the vicissitudes we have experienced, the competition is still standing. He commented that the tender recently “almost fell through” because the Office of the Superintendent made formal objections, but that was enough for there to be a recommendation to cancel the process. However, the manager suggested that these observations be corrected so that the competition could continue. “Sometimes you want to decide to declare a desert, you don’t look for opportunities to do it. The country needs investments”, thought Armijos.

Meanwhile, Jorge Luis Hidalgo, manager of Green Power, which is part of the consortium still in the competition, said he was proud to have reached this stage, as he believes they have been consistent at all times. He assured that they have believed in the potential of Campo Amistad for a long time and that is why the interest is still maintained. He also indicated that the fact that the only company is still in the tender does not mean that they have won, but that they hope that the documentation check will take place and that the authorities will continue this process until a successful outcome.

Indeed, according to Petroecuador’s statement, Green Dynamics’ offer must be analyzed by the Evaluation Commission. Additionally, we receive envelope 2, which already contains the economic offer, on November 27.

In addition, Petroecuador said it will continue to work with transparency and guarantee the continuity of the process.
