UNMSM organizes a conference on the current situation of micro and small businesses in recession

With the aim of presenting proposals to reactivate smaller-scale economies associated with microenterprises and digitalization, the Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (UNMSM) will organize the conference “The Current Situation of Micro and Small Businesses and Digital Entrepreneurship”this Thursday, November 9.

The event, developed jointly with the Center for Social Responsibility and University Extension (CERSEU) and the Training Institute for Professional Entrepreneurs (INFEPERÚ), will bring together specialists in digital entrepreneurship, such as the economist Orbegoso Lizard, business manager; to the manager of the Faculty’s Business Center, economist Geiner Marin; and the economist Jorge Mancodirector of CERSEU.

The UNMSM recalls that, in the current situation of economic recession – of increasing poverty and underemployment -, a valid alternative is related to the promotion of micro and small businesses.

This business promotion also contemplates “the use of new technologies related to digital entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence for business analysis in real time with the management of information packages in economic business predictions.”

It should be noted that micro and small businesses generate more than 60% of employment in the country. Its sales represent 17% of GDP, involving more than 6.1 million companies that are located especially in the services, commerce and manufacturing sectors,

Furthermore, the performance of these mypes represents 96% of the universe of existing companies in Peru, of which more than half operate informally without access to formal credit and with weak or poor support from the State.

The event will take place on Thursday, November 9 in the Faculty’s Hall of Degrees, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Old Pavilion in the University City. Admission is free for previously registered attendees and certificates will be awarded.
