Ecuador has become a potential source of tourists for Peru. Globally it is the third market, and in Latin America the second, and to continue to create commercial opportunities, the Commission for the Promotion of Exports and Tourism of Peru (PromPerú) held a business and tourism round table in Guayaquil and Quito.
As a result of these meetings in the two cities at the end of October, 232 business meetings were concluded, with a commercial potential of more than 376,500 USD, according to a statement from PromPerú.
In 2022, the business round table visited three cities in the country: in addition to Guayaquil and Quito, Cuenca. Then 275 business meetings were made, with a commercial potential of more than $248,070.

Peru received 175,423 Ecuadorian tourists between January and September this year, compared to last year’s 101,206 visitors in the same period, representing an increase of 73%, according to a statement from the Peruvian entity.

By 2023, more than 150 tourism-related companies participated in the meetings, where they met with tour Ecuadorian operators and wholesalers. Training seminars were also held during the event.

“It is important to emphasize that Ecuador is the third largest source market for tourists to Peru worldwide and second in Latin America. “That’s why events like this are so important, because they allow us to strengthen commercial ties between both countries and promote the tourism industry,” PromPerú said.
Across the border and with direct flights to Lima, Ecuadorian tourists arrive in the neighboring country. There are currently 28 flights per week operated by Latam and Avianca airlines. They depart from Guayaquil and Quito.
