Halloween is approaching and with it the consumption of sweets increases, especially among the little ones in the home. For this reason, the National Institute of Quality (Inacal)a public body attached to the Ministry of Production, provides some recommendations to recognize that the products (hard and white candies) that are consumed comply with quality standards and specifications and do not threaten health.
Check below the characteristics they must have:
For Soft Candies such as toffees and frunas:
- They should have a pleasant aroma, color, flavor and texture.
- They should not contain foreign particles, discolorations or other characteristics that indicate damage.
- The wrapper may or may not be printed and made of paper, polyethylene, polypropylene or other flexible materials.
- The packaging can be rigid or flexible and must be made of a food grade material approved by the health authority, such as cardboard, aluminum, tinplate, glass, plastic or laminates.
- They should not have a sticky consistency or strange flavors that indicate deterioration of the product.
For hard candies:
- They must be produced, processed, packaged, stored and distributed under hygienic conditions, according to good manufacturing practices.
- The product and its packaging must ensure the duration of the candy so that it maintains its quality characteristics.
It should be noted that these guidelines are based on current technical standards and are essential to ensure a safe and healthy Halloween celebration for everyone.
