A delegation of merchants represented by the Gamarra Business Federation (Fedegama) He reached the border area of Tacna to collect relevant information that could help them in their attempt to convert the commercial emporium of La Victoria into a Free Trade Zone (Zofratacna).
The declaration, which did not find support in the Executive – as the organization itself recognized – seeks to provide tariff benefits to Gamarra’s textile merchants.
“A delegation went to the border region to learn in situ about its operation and facilities for export to the neighboring sister country. [Chile] and the rest of the world,” Fedegama said in a statement.
The Fedegama delegation met with the general manager of Zofratacna, José Condori Salinas, who explained to the 16 visiting businessmen the facilities offered by the Free Trade Zone, especially in exports.
“We should not leave for tomorrow what can be done today, that is an action that developed countries usually do. That is why they are powers, because they left aside the harmful bureaucracy,” questioned Edward Raymundo, head of Fedegama.
The Tacna Free Trade Zone is a privileged space within the national territory, which offers a series of tax and customs benefits for companies that develop industrial, agro-industrial, assembly, maquila and services activities.
Goods entering this Free Zone are considered as if they were not in the customs territory for the purposes of import duties and taxes, under the presumption of customs extraterritoriality, enjoying a special regime in tax and customs matters.
It is located in the border region of Tacna in the center of the Pacific Coast of South America, sharing a border with countries such as Bolivia and Chile; and across the sea with the entire Pacific Rim.
