Upon his arrival from Colombia, after a meeting with his colleague Gustavo Petro, Guillermo Lasso held a press conference in Guayaquil, where he assured that the energy that the Colombian nation will send plus that negotiated with Peru will reduce power outages in Ecuador and even manage them suspend.

“The Ministry of Energy will use this energy to carry out reprogramming, which will most likely lead to a significant reduction in the level of energy savings (blackouts). With these efforts we hope to minimize, if not tell eliminate, fainting. I don’t want to take a triumphalist stance; I want to be prudent and wait for the ministry to report on the efforts made,” said Lasso.

Colombia will almost double the delivery of thermoelectric energy to Ecuador, following Guillermo Lasso’s visit to Gustavo Petro

Colombia will provide 450 MW. Meanwhile, Peru would contribute 50 MW. In addition, Lasso will meet tonight with a group of businessmen from Guayaquil and Quito who are in a position to supply the national energy system with close to 100 MW.

The entry of that energy will be next week, the president announced.

With those 600 MW, according to the president, the “specter of disappearance” would leave the country, but he indicated that this must be determined technically by the line ministry.
