Proinversión awards two electrical projects with investments exceeding US$800 million

Electrical Interconnection SA was awarded the Enlace 500 kV Huánuco-Tocache-Celendín-Trujillo and Enlace 500 kV Celendín-Piura projects, with a joint investment of more than US$800 million to install almost 1,000 km of 500 kV high-voltage lines in favor of more of three million Peruvians in Cajamarca, Huánuco, La Libertad, San Martín, Amazonas, Lambayeque and Piura.

With these two awards, there are now 14 projects awarded by Proinversión this year with an amount around US$2.3 billion, a figure that exceeds 21 times the amount achieved in 2022.

In addition, the agency successfully completes the concession of 10 electrical transmission projects commissioned by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), culminating with the Transmission Plan 2021 – 2030, with a total estimated investment of US$1,379 million.

The tender for four new electrical transmission groups that correspond to the Transmission Plan 2023 – 2032 is expected in 2024, for an estimated amount of US$900 million.

The two projects will be executed through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) modality with a concession period of 30 years of commercial operation, plus the time for the development of the infrastructure of each of them: 66 months.

“With this award we are increasing the operating conditions of the transmission system in seven departments of the country, which will promote the development of commercial, industrial and service activities, by having a supply of quality and reliable energy,” said the executive director of Proinversión, José Salardi.
