The president of the National Society of Industries (SNI), Jesús Salazar Nishi, participated in the inauguration of Expotextil Peru 2023, the most important commercial platform in the textile and clothing sector that this year expects sales of US$150 million. The event will take place from October 26 to 29, 2023 in the Jockey Convention Centerin Santiago de Surco, and plans to attract more than 24,000 people.
At the ceremony, the head of the SNI highlighted that, in 2010, 11% of the manufacturing GDP corresponded to the textile and clothing sector, but by 2021 this participation has been reduced and only represents 6%. He added that, between January and August of this year, this sector reports a cumulative drop of 15.4%.”
Likewise, Salazar Nishi highlighted that the textile and clothing sector generates more than 420,000 jobs, approximately 23% of the total jobs in the industry in general, and that 23% of industrial companies correspond to this category. “Therefore, it is vital for the industry and for job creation that measures be taken to stop the decline in the sector,” he stressed.
In the sixteenth edition of Expotextil, the participation of 183 national and foreign companies as exhibitors at the fair has been confirmed, from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, South Korea, Ecuador, USA ., El Salvador, Spain, India, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Thailand, Taiwan and others.

What activities will be carried out at the Fair?
In this edition of Expotextil, the I Congress of Textile Circularity will be held, which has eight keynote and technical conferences, and two dialogues on clean production agreements, textile waste management and recycling.
Likewise, with the aim of supporting the transmission of knowledge and strengthening of capabilities in the textile and clothing sector, the Textile Industry Week is being held, with 26 keynote conferences and four discussion dialogues on topics such as blue certification, renewable energies and suppliers. sustainable.
