He Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) He pointed out that the Chancay Megaport, built by Cosco Shipping, will generate a saving of between 8 and 12 days of maritime travel to China, the main buyer of raw materials and food from Peru.

The Chancay Megaport is designed not only for Peruvian shipments, but also to receive exportable supplies from Chile and Colombia. Even 30% of the cargo that leaves through Callao would go to that other terminal.

“This new infrastructure not only represents a spectacular attraction for Peruvian companies but also for those from Chile, Colombia and Brazil, among other countries in the region that do business in Asia,” highlighted Minister Juan Carlos Matthews.

The countries on the west coast of South America would not be the only ones that would benefit in terms of foreign trade, since it is estimated that Brazil could also export up to US$30 billion to the Asian continent through the new terminal.

“There is a legitimate intention, due to the location we have, to become a port and airport hub. “We are making efforts to achieve that goal,” said the minister.
