Given the popular clamor for the Congress approves the seventh release of AFP funds so that the population can meet its needs in a context of high inflation, the president of the Economy Commission, César Revilla, agrees with the MEF and believes that a limited withdrawal should be authorized.
“I think we could go for a withdrawal for those who are without contributions for between 6 and 12 months, and see if it is one UIT or two (UIT), also calculating what is the average fund that the member has,” commented the Fuerza legislator. Popular to Andina.
Thus, the new withdrawal from the AFP—at Revilla’s discretion—would be between S/4,950 and S/9,900 for those who do not have a job.
According to the congressman, they are not seeking to defund members and, on the contrary, they want “people to feel that the money they are not enjoying today serves to have a decent retirement.”
Revilla alleges that Peruvians who earn more than two or three UIT per month – that is, up to S/14,850 – do not need support and, on the contrary, decisions must be directed to facilitate their access to housing or the payment of a mortgage, “but that is already regulated.”
“We have to help those who need it and not people who earn more than two or three UITs per month. For them, an AFP withdrawal would only serve to make purchases and they would spend their pension fund that they are accumulating for themselves,” he concluded.
