Petroecuador has saved $130,828,802 by replacing diesel in electricity generation for its oil fields, by the third quarter of 2023. This was announced this Tuesday, October 24, by the state-owned oil company, which showed that from January to September 2023, demand Average the power in the oil fields it manages in the provinces of Orellana and Sucumbíos was 378 megawatts (MW), of which 35% was generated by diesel, 44% by crude oil, while 12% was supplied from the National Interconnected System – SNI and 9% by associated gas .

This means that 65% of the public company’s energy needs are met with alternative fuels to diesel, which has saved 57,979,165 gallons of hydrocarbons in the same period, which has resulted in a reduction of 121,828 tons of CO2 into the environment, reported the general director of Petroecuador (s ), Reinaldo Armijos.

He added that the company continues to implement actions that enable the migration of production and the cessation of the use of diesel, in order to optimize resources, also contributing to the National Energy Saving Plan implemented by the National Government.

He emphasized that from June 2009 to September 2023, through initiatives related to the Energy Efficiency Program, Petroecuador was able to reduce CO2 emissions by 2,644,084 tons, produce 3,018,543,381 KWh of electricity with associated gas, save 1,137,606,921 gallons of diesel fuel and produce net economic savings of 1,914,157,813 dollars for the benefit of the country.
