Domestic connections: 8 out of 10 Peruvian families buy gas cylinders

At least two out of every 10 Peruvian households (22.6%) declare they have access to natural gas through domestic connections, meanwhile, 77.4% of the population purchases domestic gas cylinders, according to a study carried out by Kantar Worldpanel Division between August 23 and September 8 of this year.

When checking the penetration of natural gas By socioeconomic levels, it is observed that the highest penetration is in SES C (27.1%), followed by D (21.5%), and A/B (20.1%). In the NSE E the penetration is only 14.9%.

Peruvians use WhatsApp to request gas cylinder

Regarding the means of purchasing and distributing gas cylinders, Kantar Worldpanel Peru Division concluded that 49.6% of households prefer to make the purchase by telephone with home delivery.

Meanwhile, 13% go to the sales outlets and purchase the product directly. In addition, 6.4% of households nationwide prefer to place their gas orders via WhatsApp.

If we review the means of purchasing gas cylinders by region, we can see that 66% of households in the central region buy by telephone, while in the eastern region up to 40% go to the sales location. Meanwhile, in Lima the use of WhatsApp as a purchasing channel it reaches 9%.
