They call for a sit-in at the Ministry of Culture for next Friday, October 24

The purpose of the demonstration is to demand the change of the proposed regulation that modifies the regulations of the National Cultural Heritage Law. It also demands the dismissal of current Minister Leslie Urteaga.

The College of Archaeologists of Peru has called for a sit-in that will take place on the esplanade of the Ministry of Culture. The demonstration is scheduled for next Friday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m.

The purpose of the event is to demand the change of the proposed regulations and Law 31770, which modifies Law 28296, Law of the Cultural Heritage of the Nation, and the dismissal of the current Minister Leslie Urteaga.

According to the organizers of the demonstration, the rule aims to definitively eliminate the process of the Certificate of Non-existence of Archaeological Remains (CIRA). As well as the withdrawal of the cultural condition of cultural heritage real estate.

Furthermore, they point out that it distorts the functions and the Law creating the Ministry of Culture. The invitation to the event also states that they are against the development of historical battle sites due to the Sustainable Urban Development Law.

Finally, they emphasize that “museums are not non-profit spaces, but institutions.”
