The Lima Stock Exchange closes with the majority of indicators in green and rises 0.74% this Monday, October 16

The Lima Stock Exchange It closed its operations this Monday, October 16, 2023 with gains in most of its indicators and noted 10 indices in green, four in red and two without variations.

The index S&P/BVL Peru General, the most representative of the Lima stock market, rose 0.74% to 22,312.63 points. For his part, the S&P/BVL Peru Selective Indexwhich is made up of the most traded shares in the local market, gained 0.78% and stood at 576.74 units.

The sectors that closed with gains were mining, which advanced 1.85%, and financial, with 1.45%. For their part, services and electricity did not register any variation. On the other hand, the greatest losses were in consumption, which fell 0.85%, followed by construction (-0.37%) and industrial (-0.24%).

US market closes in green

Globally, Wall Street jumped and Treasury yields rose on Monday as investors embarked on the first full week of third-quarter results and kept a close eye on the conflict between Israel and Hamas, according to Reuters.

The three major US stocks advanced almost 1% or more in a broad rally that favored the economically sensitive transportation (DJT), consumer discretionary (SPLRCD) and small cap (RUT) sectors.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) rose 314.25 points, or 0.93%, to 33,984.54; the S&P 500 (SPX) gained 45.85 points, or 1.06%, to 4,373.63; and the Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) added 160.75 points, or 1.2%, to 13,567.98.
