This Tuesday, October 17, 2023, meetings will begin between President Guillermo Lasso and elected Daniel Nobo Azín as part of the current transition of power. The first meeting, proposed by the current president and accepted by the newly elected president of Nobo, will be held in Carondelet.

Although the names of those who will lead the various departments are not yet known, some government officials are already preparing for that process.

For example, the Minister of Economy, Pablo Arosemena Marriott, explains to this newspaper that “the transition of the portfolio of economy and finance will be carried out with transparency, order and presentation of the financing contracted for the year 2024”.

It also ensures that the economy and public finances received by the Government and the efforts undertaken will be presented in detail. Additionally, emphasis will also be placed on how the economy is now delivered, “in terms of debt and deficit reduction, economic growth and reserves, and increased public credit placed at the base of the manufacturing pyramid, etc.,” says Arosemena.

As for the contracted financing, it is stated that currently 896 million dollars have been obtained, but that it will be paid out in 2024, as part of responsible management of the economy.

The minister does not specify a specific date for the transition process in his state department. However, he says that as far as he understands, “transition meetings begin this Tuesday.”
