Santa Rosa Bridge: when will construction of the work that will connect with the Jorge Chávez airport begin?

The Santa Rosa Bridge, one of the works that seeks to improve access to the Jorge Chávez airport and benefit 30 million national and foreign passengers per year, has a new start date. The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and the Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión) have announced that in the coming days of October the second call will begin to choose the company that will be in charge of the construction of the work.

Thus, it is expected that in the next 20 days — that is, by November — a successful company can be awarded and construction will begin in January of next year.

“The project includes the construction of the bridge, accesses, the roundabout and overpasses. The bridge will have a length of 65 meters, with a width of 18.90 meters, over the Rímac River. The roundabout will allow the interconnection between the Santa Rosa Bridge, Vía Expresa Santa Rosa and Av. Morales Duárez. All of this will contribute to the fluidity of traffic to the new terminal of the Jorge Chávez International Airport,” said Raúl Pérez Reyes, minister of the MTC during the event “Presentation of the Puente Santa Rosa project” held this Thursday, September 12.

As recalled, in July the first selection process for works for taxes (OXI) was announced, but it was declared void because no company attended the public event.

How much is the financing for the Santa Rosa Bridge?

For the Santa Bridge project, An approximate investment of S/ 346 million is estimated. Proinversión is the entity in charge of ensuring that the building can be called for a public tender and is awarded in a short period of time.

It should be noted that this Thursday’s meeting was attended by more than 100 representatives of private companies and consultants interested in being awarded the development.

What other projects is the MTC promoting?

To date, apart from the Santa Rosa Bridge, there are 7 projects on the agenda for an amount of S/ 1,578 million. Pérez Reyes added that in the coming months a call will be made to be developed through the Works for Taxes mechanism.
