The president of the Council of Ministers, Alberto Otarolareported this morning that next year it is planned increase the number of supervisions by the Energy and Mining Investment Supervisory Body to companies in the sector.
Thus, he explained that in 2024 the goal of said organization is to achieve more than 200,000 supervisions of energy and mining operators, which represents almost an additional 60% compared to what was registered last year.
“Likewise, it is planned to provide nearly 427,000 guidelines to the public through the various service channels that the entity has made available. This figure represents an additional 18% by 2022,” added the prime minister during his participation in the Commission. Congressional Budget.
Greater budget for Devida
In the field of the fight against drug trafficking, Otárola explained that in 2024 the budget of the National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (Devida) will be increased for comprehensive and sustainable alternative development, with the aim of providing technical assistance to communities and families to diversify production and reduce the presence of illegal coca crops.
“We plan to provide technical assistance to more than 46,000 families in terms of productive diversification, in order to strengthen the value chain of licit alternative products and this will mean 27,000 families assisted in direct execution and nearly 20,000 families through financial transfers in investment,” he commented.
The PCM also plans to strengthen psychological counseling, increase the eradication of illegal coca crops, and carry out supervision of forestry concessions and authorizations.
Training for public servants
In terms of public management, it is planned to train more than 57,000 civil servants through the National School of Public Administration of the National Civil Service Authority (Servir) to promote performance and management in public entities. This represents 97% more than this year’s goal.
The performance management and training management process will also be promoted in 21% of public entities.
What other goals does the PCM have planned?

- Intervention in dialogue tables: The PCM plans to intervene in 2,000 dialogue tables in 2024. This initiative aims to promote frank and open dialogue with the authorities and organized civil society in relation to the territorial development of the country and address 83% of related early warnings with social conflicts.
- Prospective studies: 17 prospective studies will be carried out that will analyze the behavior of specific variables over time in areas such as climate change, health, education, water, sanitation and security. These analyzes will allow the design of public policies and long-term strategic plans.
- Technical assistance: 2,000 continuous technical assistance will be provided in the plans of the three levels of government, within the framework of the Strategic Plan for National Development to 2050.
- Promotion and regulation of competitive markets: Indecopi will provide 452,000 guidelines on consumer protection and will address 92,000 complaints related to deceptive practices and unsatisfactory services.
- Technological development and innovation strategies: Grants will be awarded for research, technological development and innovation projects in areas such as climate change, biodiversity, health, food security, renewable energy and information technologies.
- Budget Execution: The improvement in budget execution of the PCM sector in recent years was highlighted, with a projection of 98% for the current year.
