According to the National Chamber of Petroleum Distributors of Ecuador (Camddepe), several of Petroecuador’s terminals, located in different provinces in the country, would have low fuel supply.
The situation, they say from the Chamber, has been going on for several weeks and as the days go by it would be more and more pronounced, so they are waiting for an explanation on this matter, but they have not received an answer and only the State told them that it was due to “problems in the system”.
How can you save on fuel consumption? Experts reveal some strategies
“Nobody is giving any official explanation. Something happens and there is no explanation, it can create shortages. No tanker was dispatched to any terminal. What raises suspicions is that something more serious is happening, it has been repeated at several terminals for more than a month and they never said it was a system problem,” said Camddepe president Ivo Rosero.
According to the manager, on September 13, they received reports of irregular deliveries at the following Petroecuador terminals, in addition to the diesel quota system at 455 gas stations:
A similar situation of irregular fuel shipment – according to Roser – was evident three weeks ago at the Catamayo terminal, in Loja. Additionally, on October 5 at the Riobamba terminal, according to the union. They indicated that deliveries were not completed and that they had to remove fuel from the Ambato terminal, which is already experiencing shortages. The Riobamba terminal supplies the Chimborazo and Bolívar gas stations.
Some gas stations in Guayaquil experienced delays in the arrival of fuel tankers
The sector’s concern becomes more apparent – according to Roser – because this Saturday, October 7, the shortage still exists at the Pascuales terminal.
⛽ Fuel shortages were felt in Cuenca at the end of August. In September, the problems spread to the Ambato terminal. On October 15, the problem was felt in Riobamba. Today there is a shortage of fuel delivery at the national level due to “problems in the system”. pic.twitter.com/A6KTD9qUFx

“This serious situation affecting the public service and the strategic sector, without so far explaining the reasons why there is no normal fuel supply, which will generate serious economic effects in general”, they pointed out in a statement published this weekend, addressed to President Guillermo Lasso.
