Osiptel: more than 488,000 mobile line users changed operators in September

He Supervisory Body for Private Investment in Telecommunications (Osiptel) reported that a total of 488,671 mobile lines changed operators last September, the third best record so far this year.

Despite not reaching the figures for August, when more than 518,000 lines changed operators, the number of ports registered in September reveals that competition between mobile service operators remains firm, according to the regulatory body.

“Which results in greater benefits for users, since companies have to make an effort to retain their subscribers and attract new customers,” said Osiptel.

According to the report from the PUNKU computer tool, ports in the postpaid segment represented 72.47% of the total operations registered in September; Meanwhile, 27.53% of shipments corresponded to the prepaid modality.

Thus, ports in the postpaid modality reached 354,120 lines, which represented a decline of 4.99% compared to what was registered last August (372,708 lines).

Meanwhile, the portability of prepaid lines reached 134,551 mobile lines, which meant a decrease of 7.57% compared to what was reported the previous month (145,572 lines).

Osiptel: Claro and Entel lead net ports

Regarding lines gained and lost by mobile operator, Entel and Claro obtained positive net shares (the difference between lines gained and lost). Entel led the positive balance with 10,293 net mobile lines ported, followed by Claro with 6,493 net mobile lines ported.

At the other extreme were the operators Bitel (-12,516), Movistar (-3,994), Flash (-228) and Guinea Mobile (-48), which had a negative balance of net ports.

Regarding fixed portability, 5,652 fixed lines changed operators, a growth of 375.76% compared to September 2022, when 1,188 lines were ported.

“However, a decline of -57.69% was evident compared to August of this year, when the portability of 13,358 fixed lines was reported,” Osiptel stressed.

The operating companies Optical Networks, Engineering in Business Management and Opportunities, Claro and Fravatel were the ones that achieved the highest positive net balance with 3,686, 571, 531 and 194 fixed lines, respectively. On the opposite side were Moche Inversiones and Telefónica, with net balances of -3035 and -1402 fixed lines, respectively.
