Nougat sales would grow by 20% this year

For this year, nougat producers expect to increase their sales by 20% compared to last year, in which there was a production of five million kilos.

Thus, it is expected to market nearly six million kilos, according to the Peruvian Association of Bakery and Pastry Entrepreneurs (Aspan).

In that sense, the price of this product depends on the variety of ingredients used to make it.

Pío Pantoja, president of Aspan, indicated that many consumers choose to purchase options with less fat, which is why prices vary between S/18 and S/40 per kilo.

“What the baking industry has done with respect to nougat is diversify the offer and has increased the proposals, with ingredients such as purple corn, quinoa and kiwicha,” he stressed in dialogue with La República.

Likewise, Pantoja highlights that the increase in demand for 2023 is mainly due to consumption in regions such as Moquegua, Arequipa, Apurímac and Ayacucho, where the acquisition of this product began in the first days of October, ahead of the campaign.

In Lima, the offer would increase with the first departure of the procession of the Lord of Miracles.
