Petroecuador reported that on October 6, 2023, crude oil production levels returned to 397,000 barrels per day, which is 100% in line with the levels estimated in the Ministry of Energy and Mines’ official targets for this month.

And that after a significant drop in production was recorded from September 27 to October 1 due to problems at the Auca field, which is managed by Schlumberger. According to Petroecuador data, oil production in the mentioned block on September 27 was 78,971 barrels per day, and on September 30 it was 61,065 barrels per day, while on October 1 it fell to 50,072 barrels.

The fall occurred due to protests by communities surrounding the block demanding road improvements, following a road accident that occurred on the Auca highway that left fatalities.

Therefore, according to the public oil company’s production report, Auca ranks as the most productive asset to date with 78,713 barrels of oil per day, after recovering its production under the influence of events outside the company. It is followed by Sacha with 74,331 (102% of the target), Shushufindi with 59,736 (95%) and ITT with 58,010 (101%) barrels of oil per day.

The recovery of production was possible “thanks to the efforts and commitment of the current business administration with the support of the technical staff working in the 25 blocks in charge of the state oil company: 22 in the Amazon and three in the Coast,” the state company reported.

The oil company confirmed its commitment to the country to develop hydrocarbon resources in an efficient and transparent manner.
