PCM announces advance of up to S/100 million of the mining canon for Moquegua

Following the meeting of the Council of Ministers (PCM), which took place this Monday, October 2, Alberto Otárola, president of the PCM, announced the approval of a supreme decree that will allow a internal debt of up to S/100 million in favor of the Regional Government (GORE) of Moquegua, as an advance on the mining canon.

“This will allow capabilities to be improved through information technology and technology, which is a master plan that the regional government of Moquegua has, to immediately intervene in the Lloque, San Cristóbal de Tarata road network, and the improvement of two educational institutions, one in Ilo, and the other in the province of Mariscal Nieto,” Otarola highlighted during a press conference.

It should be noted that, according to the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem), for April, Moquegua led mining investment in the country and registered an amount greater than US$204 million.

Currently, among the relevant mining projects in the region are the Quellaveco Mine, the Ilo Expansion, Los Calatos and San Gabriel, the latter under construction with an investment of US$470 million.
