The Coalition of American Businesses is the name of the initiative launched by trade unions of the business sector and exporters as part of a program they carried out in the United States of America, between September 25 and 26, where President Guillermo Lasso was also, asking for support to include Ecuador in the Ecuadorian Law on innovations and development (IDEA).
The initiative aims to “better articulate actions to promote approval of IDEA in the US Congress,” according to Executive President of the Ecuadorian-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), Felipe Espinosa.
Delegates of the Ecuadorian Business Committee (CEE), the Ecuadorian Federation of Exporters (Fedexpor) and AmCham, according to the press release, held meetings with members of the Senate and House of Representatives of the US Congress, to promote legislative progress on the processing of the IDEA Act, in the committees responsible for its discussion and officially presented the Coalition of American Business initiative.

According to the executive, with the inclusion of Ecuador in this standard, “at least 90% of products exported to the US will not pay tariffs.”
The coalition of American companies, according to the statement, focuses on developing activities to make visible the importance and benefits that can arise from the approval of IDEA in the United States Congress, with the aim of deepening bilateral trade and investment ties between the two countries.
“We are committed to strengthening bilateral relations. The business coalition will allow us to better articulate actions to promote the passage of IDEA in the US Congress,” said AmCham Executive President Felipe Espinosa.

For his part, the executive vice president of Fedexpor, Xavier Rosero, indicated that the meetings held in the US Congress enabled the positioning of commercial importance for the country’s export sector, as well as for more than 300,000 families that depend on commercial relations with the United States market.
