Having a common goal as a society and, in order to achieve this, minimum agreements at least on urgent issues, such as security, investment and employment, is what the Ecuadorian Business Committee (CEE) considers more than an opportunity, but an obligation. This vision of the country was one of the messages that its president, Miguel Ángel González, left at the celebration of the nineteenth anniversary of the union.

And when you just want to impose your ideas and not work as a team, that becomes a weakness. In a democracy, even if there are different visions, it is important to agree, he pointed out at a celebration held on the night of September 25 in Quito, among more than a thousand businessmen, state and local authorities of the country. .

The event opened with a minute’s silence for those whose voices were silenced, and everyone stood to honor those lives.

In his speech, González talked about the complex situation in the country. He expressed dissatisfaction with the perverse scenario of violence, insecurity that generates fear, uncertainty and keeps the population in anxiety.

In addition, the Committee has worked for years to consolidate the management of the sector: “We started with 10 unions; Today there are 145 of us, so the entire production sector.”

Representatives of 125 manufacturing and business unions will meet in Manta to outline their roles in the country’s recovery.

He recalled that last January the first convention of the trade union production sector was held with the aim of harmonizing visions and defining roles for the upliftment of Ecuador, in a document called Manta Consensus 2023, which reflects where they want to go.

“In the manufacturing sector, we know what contribution we make to society, products and services that are necessary for life, jobs, taxes and extensive social responsibility actions. But we are aware that the national reality is so critical that it requires a deep commitment to co-responsibility and concrete actions, investment of time and resources to repair the fractures of society and reduce inequalities and social gap,” he added.

He also expressed a continued commitment to investing, taking risks, promoting job creation and collaborating on issues of public interest.

The night became more emotional when a video was shown of Ecuador reaching the FIFA World Cup for the first time; and the former Tricolor captain Álex Aguinaga entered the stage in a national team jersey and told about his beginnings, family life, achievements and thus everyone’s message that a new Ecuador is being built was reinforced.
