A city tour can cost from S/25 per person and some include transportation and a tour guide, according to Atrápalo. For World Tourism Day, on September 27, the agency has prepared a profile of the Peruvian tourist based on data collected between January and August 2023. Here we tell you the details.
“The need and desire to travel, whether inside or outside the country, is actually something essential for Peruvians, who take advantage not only of vacations, but also any getaway opportunity to plan your next destination,” indicates Angela Ruiz, regional manager of Atrápalo for the markets of Peru, Chile and Colombia.
What are the regions that Peruvians prefer to visit?
Among the favorite destinations of Peruvians are Cusco, Arequipa and Juliaca, being willing to spend an average of US$57 per person, per leg, on flights. Regarding the stay, 70% prefer to stay in 3-star hotels, paying from S/60 per night with breakfast included and usually stay an average of 3 nights.
As for external destinations, the preference falls on the cities of Cancún (Mexico), Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Cartagena (Colombia) and, recently entered into the ranking of greatest demand, the cities of Buenos Aires (Argentina) and Havana (Cuba).
The air reservation budget for these places has an average of US$350 round trip per person (reference Cancun); while, for accommodation, they are willing to spend an average of US$131 per night, and will stay approximately 5 nights.

- The most sought after activities are a tour of the countryside in Arequipa; night tour to the Presbítero Maestro cemetery in Lima; full day in Paracas (Ballestas Islands, Ica, Laguna De Huacachina); full day Lunahuaná with visit to the Cerro Azul Spa, including a wine tasting.
