Executive Branch seeks to recompose the Perupetro board of directors

In the supplementary credit bill proposed by the Government, it is being proposed to recompose the Perupetro board of directors. To this end, it seeks to make changes to the law of organization and functions of the aforementioned company, in order for two independent directors to join.

In this way, the agency responsible for managing, promoting and negotiating hydrocarbon contracts would go from having three members of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) to only two, one of whom is the president of the board of directors.

In addition, there will no longer be two directors appointed by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), but only one. The shortlist would be completed by the two independents, who would be selected in accordance with the procedures approved by the National Fund for Financing State Business Activity (Fonafe).

“The main objective of the proposed measure “is to have an updated legal framework that allows better management of the State’s business activity.”, specifies the explanatory statement of the bill. The companies Sima Perú, Sema Perú, Fame SAC and Agrobanco will also have two independent directors representing Fonafe.

The Executive’s initiative was sent to Congress on September 22 as “urgent.”
