The Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE), Daniel Maurate, declared on National Radio about what the minimum wage increase. As recalled, President Dina Boluarte promised an increase in the minimum vital remuneration for employees in the public and private sectors. Find out here what the head of the Labor portfolio said.

What did the Minister of Labor say about the increase in the minimum wage?

The head of the MTPE indicated that he does not believe that any Peruvian will oppose this measure. “We must ensure that this (readjustment) is as balanced and technical as possible so as not to affect formality and to help small businesses formalize,” said Minister Maurate.

The minister stressed that labor cost is an important factor for formalization, and if it rises, this process will suffer to develop. “Informality has been growing. That is the critical point that we have to take care of, how to increase the minimum wage without affecting productivity. It is a task that requires consensus,” added Daniel Maurate.

What is the current amount of the minimum vital remuneration?

At the moment, no estimated figure has been mentioned about the increase in the minimum vital remuneration (RMV) for this year. Therefore, it currently continues at S/1,025, after the last increase made by former president Pedro Castillo.
