Petroperú: fuel production resumed after fire at the Talara Refinery

Petroperu reported that the fire recorded in the early hours of this Friday at the new Talara Refinery (NRT), in Piura, was quickly controlled, after which fuel production resumed.

The fire started in the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCC), responsible for the production of LPG along with that of Flexicoking (FCK), and whose commercial operation had begun this month of September.

“At average 6:05 a.m. today, Friday, September 22, a minor fire occurred in the Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Unit (FCC) of the Talara Refinery, which was controlled immediately, in approximately five minutes. by the company’s firefighting personnel,” the oil company said.

According to the company, the incident did not cause significant personal or material damage and “activities in the refining complex continue to be carried out normally.” The causes of the incident are the subject of investigation.

It should be noted that Petroperú has contingency plans in all its operations. The refinery complex, built with its own resources and not from the Treasury, also has the corresponding insurance.

The NRT has a production capacity of up to 5,000 barrels of LPG per day, whose marketing is focused on the northern regions of the country. With its capacity of 95,000 barrels per day, it is one of the most modern refining complexes in the region.
