Value of operations in payment systems grew 8% in the first 7 months of the year

The total amount of operations in the three Payment Systems used in the country was S/439,000 million from January to July 2023, an increase of 8.4% compared to the same period of the previous year, and higher by 11.6% compared to the year before the pandemic.

The average monthly value of interbank transfers carried out in the Real-Time Gross Settlement System (RTGS System) of the BCRP amounted to S/392,000 million in the period analyzed, an increase of 7.6%, and an increase of 8 .7% compared to the same period in 2019.

This system, which processes high-value operations of entities and their clients, from S/5,000 and US$2,000, represents 89% of the transactions of all payment systems.

Meanwhile, the value of payment operations through the Electronic Clearing House (CCE), where checks and other instruments are settled, whose maximum amounts per operation must not exceed S/420,000 and US$75,000 for credit transfers ( deferred) and the S/30,000 and US$10,000 for immediate transfers, increased 12% compared to the previous period (60.3% compared to 2019) to S/39,000 million as a monthly average, due to the increase in the use of Credit Transfers and Immediate Transfers

Likewise, the average monthly amount of transactions processed in the Multibank Securities Settlement System (SLMV), which includes transactions in the Stock Market (shares and corporate bonds) and government securities (secondary market), reached S/ 7,800 million in the first seven months of 2023, an increase of 38.1% compared to the same period in 2022 and lower by 3% compared to similar months in 2019.
