In order to solve your family basketsome 1,000 small farmers from the Sechura desert (Piura) undertook a project to plant loctao beans, which they are already growing and will export 20 tons until South Korea. This project began thanks to the joint effort between the Regional Government of Piura and the San Martín de Sechura Community Foundation.

The president of the San Martín de Sechura Community FoundationAlexis Robespierre Tume Saldarriaga, said that farmers have had technical assistance from the Regional Directorate of Agriculture.

The official added that a kilogram of this bean will be sold for 5 soles to the companies Andes Perú and Procesadora Perú. “He loctao beans are sent directly to Korea, where we already have purchasing companies such as Andes Perú and Procesadora Perú. Before planting, the market search began, even with a reference price of 5 soles per kilogram. We have reached agreements with these companies for the benefit of our community members,” he stated.

It should be noted that this crop was planted during the rains, so that the humidity of the arid lands was taken advantage of.
