Golden Cup Perú 2023: 15 containers and 24 microlots of coffee qualified for the final of the contest

A total of 15 full containers and 24 microlots of coffees from Fair Tradecoming from various coffee cooperatives located in the regions of the northeast, central jungle and south from the country; have managed to advance to the final phase of the third edition of the Fairtrade Golden Cup Peru 2023 Coffee Quality Competition. This event will take place in Lima at the beginning of October.

These results show greater interest among organizations and producers in producing high-quality coffees and respecting social aspects, such as valuing the role of women and avoiding child labor. It also shows that there is a greater volume of this type of aromatic grain, which is in great demand in the international market,” commented the taster.

Likewise, Salazar maintained that this year he has noticed an increase in good Peruvian products, especially from the high areas of the north, center and south, which helps consolidate Peru’s image as a country producing fine and specialty coffees.

It should be noted that the largest number of coffees classified this year come from the northeast, where six containers and nine microlots remained.

Then there is the southern zone, which imposed five containers and eight microlots; and three of the first and seven of the second passed from the central jungle.

The final stage will take place from October 2 to 4 in Lima, in the laboratory of the National Coffee Board, and will be led by the renowned Brazilian taster Cecilia Sanadawho last year was a judge of the second contest in our country and has been in charge of competitions in Brazil, Colombia and Ethiopia.

In addition, international tasters from renowned coffee roasting companies will be part of the team, such as Ogawa Coffee from Japan; New Coffee, from Germany, linked to supermarkets in Europe; as well as buyers of Canada and Belgiumwho at the end of the event will visit coffee producer cooperatives.
