Minem: We are committed to promoting the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons

The Minister of Energy and Mines (Minem), Eduardo González Toro, assured at the 23rd International Petroleum Congress that his administration is committed to the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons.

“We are committed to promoting and encouraging hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation activities. The Government is committed to private investment and has the doors open for the development of this important industry, “he said.

Along these lines, he pointed out that the Executive’s objective is to make Peru an attractive place for investors in national and international hydrocarbons.

In addition, he ratified that the Government is working on the massification of the use of natural gas, promoting the exploration of this resource, as well as the construction of distribution and transportation networks.

“He reiterated that this process will begin in seven regions of the country, as announced a few weeks ago by President Pedro Castillo,” indicates a press release issued by Minem.

The Minister of Energy and Mines also made an account of the oil tradition in our country. “Peru has a long oil tradition that dates back more than 150 years, when the first well was drilled in the northwest of the country, and it specified that to date more than 2,727 million barrels of crude oil have been produced on Peruvian soil”, stated at the event that takes place in Houston, USA.

Finally, he highlighted the development of the natural gas industry in our country. “Of the 18 basins that exist in the country, hydrocarbons are only obtained in four, which reflects the potential that exists,” he said.
