Looking for toys for Christmas? Follow the Indecopi recommendations for a safe purchase

A few days before Christmas Eve, the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi) offers helpful recommendations at the time of purchase toys for the kids, within the framework of the Safe Christmas 2021 information campaign.

In this way, the entity seeks to place the citizen at the center of its services, sensitize the population about the importance of being informed before deciding on a purchase, raising awareness about responsible consumption and the importance of having informed users.

The entity recommends not to buy Adulterated toys because they can contain toxic substances that could affect the health of children. Therefore, it is best to purchase them from formal suppliers.

Along these lines, it is suggested to verify if the product has not been prohibited or withdrawn from the market for being risky, by entering: https://www.alertasdeconsumo.gob.pe/

Likewise, it is advisable to read the labels, which must contain the following information: name, address and business name of the manufacturer or importer; the registration number and sanitary authorization of the manufacturer, importer, distributor or marketer.

These labels must also inform about the age that the child who is going to use the toy must be, its proper use and how to assemble it, as well as warnings about the risks that may exist and recommendations on how to avoid them.

In addition, when buying toys, parents should consider that they do not have small parts, because they could be ingested by children and cause suffocation, so parents or adults are advised to be vigilant.

Finally, you should not forget to demand your proof of payment, as this document will allow you to support any claim in the event of any damage.
