President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, was charged with three counts related to the purchase and possession of guns in the United States.

The indictment was signed by Delaware federal prosecutor David Weiss, who was appointed special prosecutor in charge of these investigations by United States Attorney General Merrick Garland in mid-August.

The incident dates back to October 2018 when Hunter bought a gun in Delaware but lied when filling out a federal form swearing he was not addicted to illegal drugs. This was a lie, as he was battling crack addiction at the time of his purchase.

The charges include making false statements on a federal firearms form and making false statements regarding information required to be maintained by a federally licensed dealer. Prescribing for some of these crimes will take place in October, according to CNN.

Last July, a plea deal in which he tried to plead guilty to minor tax crimes and avoid prosecution on the latter charge collapsed after the judge ruled on concerns about the structure of the deal.
