The Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) announced that a new working meeting was held between MMG Las Bambas, operator of the Las Bambas mine, and representatives of the communities of the province of Chumbivilcas (Cusco), where the road corridor crosses Apurímac-Cusco-Arequipa (CVACA), also called “mining corridor”.
At the meeting, held in the community of Cruzpampa, in the district of Capacmarca (Chumbivilcas), the communities ratified their willingness to continue talking to achieve satisfactory agreements in the negotiation with MMG Las Bambas regarding their participation in the transportation and road maintenance services demanded by the copper operation, located in the Apurimac region.
In this sense, the General Office of Social Management (OGGS) of Minem urged that the mining company carry out the revision of its proposal, in order to advance with the dialogue and the search for definitive and fair agreements, which are reflected in the progress and well-being of the communities.
Similarly, at the meeting -which was attended by representatives of the communities of Cruzpampa, Cancahuani, Idiopa Ñaupa, among others- requests regarding the social investment that the company makes in Chumbivilcas, and other topics of interest.
