The arrival of the ship Alexander von Humboldt of the French shipping company CMA CGM in the deep-water port of Posorj is a reason for celebration for DP World Ecuador, who described it as an “unforgettable milestone for the country”.

According to DP World Ecuador, it is the largest ship to arrive in an Ecuadorian port and in South America, and among the characteristics they mention is that its container ship is “almost three times the size of the tallest building in the country” and they refer to The Point building which is located in Guayaquil.

They also state that it is 396 meters long (the length of the vessel from bow to stern), and its capacity is 16,022 TEUS (containers).

“We are able to operate this type of ships at their maximum carrying capacity, thanks to our expeditious and deep access channel, modern infrastructure, operational efficiency and the highest safety standards. “It’s been 4 years of contributing to the development of Ecuadorian foreign trade!” they commented on their X account (formerly Twitter).

According to DP World data, more than 20 million boxes of bananas have been exported through the port terminal of Posorje so far in 2023, which is a 30 percent increase compared to last year in the same period.

They also point out that one of the special features of the deep-water port of Posorja is its location on the west coast of the South Pacific, an expeditious maritime access channel with a depth of -16 meters.
