United Kingdom: each British tourist would spend US$2,000 on their visit to Peru, Mincetur estimates

The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism, Juan Carlos Matthewspointed out that each tourist from the United Kingdom could invest about US$2,000 to choose Peru as their destination, for at least two weeks.

During the launch ceremony of a new air route that will specify, starting December 1, up to 5 weekly trips between Lima and London, the head of Mincetur said that “there are still spaces” to promote the arrival of British visitors to the national territory. .

“We have almost 35,000 British travelers who come to Peru annually, although we were at 71,000 before the pandemic. We still have a lot of room to grow,” he said during the event organized by Latam.

“In the case of British tourists, they spend US$2,000 every time they make a two-week visit to Peru. So this route is essential for us,” he added.

It should be noted that the Latam company expects that around 150,000 travelers from the United Kingdom will use the new route to reach Peru each year.

Until July alone, some 19,453 travelers from the United Kingdom arrived at the Jorge Chávez Airport, out of a total of 1,327,666 tourists of all nationalities, according to official figures. This second figure represents a growth of 38% compared to the same period in 2022, but is still below the pre-pandemic level.
