The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) announced that they are promoting the execution of seven railway implementation projects on Peruvian soil. These railway works will connect millions of citizens through different cities of the Peru. Next, we show you the cities where these works will be and the state in which they are located.
Where are the 7 railway projects located in Peru?
- Tacna–Tumbes Railway Corridor: also known as Grau Train. It is a mixed traffic railway for the mass transport of passengers and cargo in general, along 2,446 km, which will be able to meet an average demand of 30.3 million passengers per year.
- Lima–Ica railway: This tram will cross the provinces of Ica, Pisco, Chincha, Cañete and Lima, with an extension of more than 280 km. Currently, the pre-investment study is being carried out at the profile level to meet a demand of 11 million passengers annually.
- Puerto San Juan de Marcona–Andahuaylas Railway: will connect the regions of Apurímac, Ayacucho, Arequipa and Ica, through a 595 km line.
- Trans-Andean Tunnel: This is a package to develop three tunnels with a total length of 15.35 km, which will allow passengers to be transferred quickly, safely and at competitive costs, from Lima to Junín.
- Lima–Barranca railway (245.66 km long) and the East Lima–Ricardo Palma Railway Corridor (46.2 km): both routes plan to substantially reduce the travel hours of the residents of the metropolitan capital with their provinces
- Huancayo–Huancavelica Railway: the popular Male Train, is currently providing the service free of charge to neighbors and tourists. In parallel, the MTC, together with ProInvestmentis carrying out the concession process for the improvement of this railway.
