He lemon, one of the inputs with the greatest demand in Peruvian gastronomy, continues to cause concern due to its scarcity and high price that has occurred in recent weeks. The regional director of Agriculture, Paul Loayza, spoke about this scenario and clarified what will happen to the price of this product.

The official said the pests and weather they do not help the flowering of the lemon. That is why this product will continue with high prices in the different markets and will remain scarce.

Likewise, he considered that the outlook on this issue will be uncertain and for the coming months the price trend is upward, which will continue to harm the pockets of all Peruvians, since Piura is one of the main lemon-producing regions.

The manager of Economic Development of the Regional Government of Piura, Antonio Valdiviezo Palacios, agreed with Paúl Loayza and stated that the excess of water due to rains has caused the presence of pests. Also the warm weather has not allowed flowering as recorded in previous years.
