The Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation (MVCS) reported that, fulfilling the commitments to attend the most vulnerable areas before the arrival of the El Niño phenomenon, is acquiring more than 400 machinery, vehicles and equipment, which will carry out preparatory work and emergency care in 6 regions of the country.

For this, it is already committed to the date, that is, with contracts signed with suppliers, more than S/264.8 million, out of a total of S/370.7 million, which will be canceled and accrued at the time of deliveries, according to the established schedules.

It is expected that by December 100% of the budget assigned to the sector will have been executed through Emergency Decrees No. 017-2023 and No. 028-2023.

In this sense, the MCCS remarked that DU No. 017-2023, which authorizes the transfer of more than S/48 million for the purchase of machinery and vehicles by the MVCS Our Cities Program (PNC), has committed and 96% of the budget is certified, that is, S/46.4 million, and the first purchases will begin to be delivered in the coming days.

In turn, it indicated that 67.75% of the amount transferred through DU No. 028-2023 has been committed and certified, that is, S/ 218.3 million of S/322.3 million, which are executed by the Our Cities Program (PNC), the National Urban Sanitation Program (PNSU), the National Rural Sanitation Program (PNSR) and the Technical Agency of the Sanitation Services Administration (OTASS).

The funds are used to purchase heavy machinery, vehicles, and equipment for various tasks, such as cleaning and clearing riverbeds, drains, and streams in urban areas, distributing drinking water, cleaning sewers, and evacuating floodwaters, among others. activities.

Among the acquisitions made, backhoe loaders, front loaders, hydraulic excavators, dump trucks, tank trucks, hydrojet trucks, crawler tractors, low bed tugs, motor pumps, bucket machines, among other equipment, are included, which will be added to the existing machinery park. in the sector.

The regulation also finances the construction of the Alternative Systems for the Collection and Evacuation of Rainwater (SAREs), an innovative intervention that has already begun its execution in Piura, and that will allow the drainage of stagnant water in blind basins and reduce the risk of flooding.
