The basic family basket was $ 715.31 in November, while in the same month of 2020 it was $ 711.12.
As a normal increase and a sign of economic reactivation, economic analysts rate the price of the basic family basket (CFB) in November, which stood at $ 715,31, according to figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (INEC). The increase was $ 4.19 compared to the same month, in 2020 where it was $ 711,12.
Jorge Calderón, economic analyst, indicates that it is common for the price of the basic basket to increase in the last quarter of each year.
“Normally this last section of the year prices tend to grow more because a time of high spending is approaching and several companies have been raising prices in commerce, service, among others, with some advance notice, precisely to capture more income due to the level of leveling. their sales, ”he explains.
The cost of the basic basket increased by 0.45% in reference to the previous month. In the Sierra the rise is more concentrated where it was $ 727.46 and in the Coast of $ 703.16.
Sugar, salt, seasonings, coffee, soft drinks, rent, fuel, clothes and other products are part of the basic basket.
The economic analyst Héctor Delgado attributes the increase to reactivation. “The basic food basket had a growth because people begin to consume more in recent months and it is accentuated in December. Let us remember that the basket is made up of food products and that is where people begin to consume, this is reflected as the economy reactivates ”, he mentions.
According to the INEC, Cuenca is the most expensive city with a basic basket of $ 745.55.
Delgado points out that the particularity with Cuenca is due to the presence of foreigners, who seek this city to enjoy their retirement from work.
“Cuenca, there is a particular effect: it has welcomed enough foreigners from the United States and Europe to spend their retirement and makes these people raise the price of food because they consume a lot and it is reflected, for example in the price of rents and housing ”, It indicates.
Oil, flour, blackberry and corn rise in price, after an increase in diesel and extra gasoline and eco-country in Ecuador
Calderón mentions another effect that would be reflected in the price of the family basket for next year. And it is the recent Law of Economic Development and Fiscal Sustainability where the Simplified Regime for Entrepreneurs and Popular Businesses (Rimpe) is created.
“There will probably be an impact on the popular sectors by the Rimpe system, for certain contributions … normally what these companies will do is pass it on to consumers ”, explains Calderón.
Delgado agrees with this effect and thinks it will be a slight increase. Although he assures little by little this movement is being observed. “We can already see these effects when you go to the market to buy food, which with the same dollar I buy less than what I bought a few months ago, and likewise different items that make up the basket,” he says.
The INEC also published the figures of the vital basket (minimum amount of products that can be purchased with little income) that had a cost of $ 505.32, generating a surplus of $ 241.35 of the family income. This vital basket increased by 0.18% in reference to the cost of the previous month.
Inflation in November 2021 reached 0.36%, according to INEC
Meanwhile, monthly inflation in November was 0.36%. And the annual rate (from November 2020 to November 2021) reached a rate of 1.84%, while the accumulated inflation for the year (January to November 2021) was 1.87%.
The products that contributed the most to this slight rise in monthly inflation were transportation (0.28%), health (0.05%), restaurants and hotels (0.01%). (I)
