Ministry of Energy and Mines will launch credits for artisanal miners

He Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem)through the planetGOLD Peru project implemented by the Ministry of the Environment and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), It will promote financial products for small miners, artisanal miners formalized or in the process of formalizing, whether natural or legal persons. This initiative will be carried out in association with Caja Ica.

The main objective is to facilitate access to credit for artisanal minerss, while strengthening its activities in line with principles of sustainability and preservation of the environment.

Likewise, said credits they will contribute to the development of alternative or complementary businesses by manual gold sorters who are registered in the register of Third Party Natural Persons and Manual Gold Sorters administered by the General Directorate of Mining Formalization (DGFM).

It is important to highlight that these measures are fully aligned with the implementation of the Multisectoral National Policy for Small-scale Mining and Artisanal Mining, promoted by Minem through the DGFM.

Through these actions, the aim is to stimulate business and financial development, as well as improve the value chain of small-scale and artisanal miners throughout the country. This represents a significant advantage in the formalization process and in evaluating the effectiveness of management tools and public policies.
