Banco de la Nación alerts all its users about spoofing, a new type of scam with which criminals get your confidential information to commit computer crimes and thus access your balances, secret passwords or codes. This has the objective of carrying out operations from the digital channels of the client and subtracting your money. If you want to avoid this, find out in this note from La República the best tips to avoid falling into this practice.
What is spoofing?
Spoofing is a type of scam with which criminals pose as workers of the main banking entities. They call you from numbers that seem official and seek to earn your trust so that you provide them with your personal information and, with it, access passwords, bank accounts, among others.
How to avoid spoofing, according to the Bank of the Nation?
Banco de la Nación offers the following advice to its users on how to avoid spoofing:
- Banco de la Nación will never request confidential information (balances, username and password, secret passwords, codes sent to the client’s cell phone, card numbers, expiration date, or the three digits for online purchases, etc.) through telephone calls or through any other means such as SMS, email, etc. Those data are private.
- If a call with these characteristics is identified, the recommendation is to hang up immediately, since it is a fraud attempt.
- If you have received a call of this type, it is likely that your confidential information has been compromised, so it is recommended to block your cards, monitor your balances, change their secret password and other actions to secure your money.
- Never share personal information, balances, keys to your physical token, or codes you receive via SMS (Short Message Service) under any circumstances. These security elements are only generated to confirm financial operations and/or update your personal data.
