CSKA removed the portrait of Mario Fernandez, who joined Zenit, at the home stadium

CSKA Moscow removed the portrait of Mario Fernandez at the home stadium. It is reported by RIA Novosti.

In place of the photo of the former player of CSKA and the Russian national team, who moved to the St. Petersburg “Zenith”, now there is a portrait of the ex-midfielder of the army Daniel Carvalho. It is noted that the decision was made after the fans of the Moscow team launched a petition demanding that the graffiti with the image of Fernandez be removed.

Fernandez played for CSKA Moscow from 2012 to 2022, after which he took a break from his career. From January 2023, the defender played on loan for the Brazilian Internacional, but on April 21 he left the club ahead of schedule for personal reasons. After that, CSKA negotiated the return of the defender, but he moved to Zenit. The agreement is designed for one year with the possibility of extension for a season.

On September 3, CSKA and Zenit will play in the match of the seventh round of the Russian Premier League (RPL). The meeting will be held in Moscow at the home stadium of the army team.
