S / 7,000 million in total will be paid for gratification

December is a month of higher expenses for end-of-year holidays, but an additional income also arises for some families through the Christmas bonus, a benefit that will be disbursed at most until the 15th. this month to around 3 million formal workers from the private sector.

In this last bonus of the year, the total amount that the companies will disburse to the account of their workers will be approximately S / 7,000 million, as calculated by the teacher at Pacífico Bussines School Jorge Carrillo Acosta.

For the PUCP economist José Oscátegui, although this is a regular injection that occurs every year, it will give an additional boost to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), since families will make immediate or short-term expenses, either through the consumption, investment or payment of debts.

Payment details

Private sector workers who are on the payroll are entitled to this bonus, and who have worked at least one month between July and December 2021.

The amount that each worker who worked the entire semester will receive is equivalent to a gross salary plus an additional 9% bonus for EsSalud.

For example, to a person who receives a gross salary of S / 1,000 per month, 9% (S / 90) will be added, for which they will receive S / 1,090 as a bonus.

“If the person worked only one month during that semester, they will not receive the gratification complete, as those who are on the payroll will do from July 1 ”, clarified Carrillo Acosta.

In the case of workers who were in perfect suspension of work, the amount of this benefit will be proportional to the full months that they have worked in the second semester of the year.

“If, for example, the person has a gross monthly salary of S / 3,000, and was in SPL until September 2021, he only received three salaries of S / 3,000 from July to December; that is, S / 9,000 throughout the semester. Therefore, his bonus would be S / 1,500 ″, explained the specialist.

It should be noted that, regardless of the working time, this payment will not be subject to any discount such as AFP, income tax, among others.

Companies that fail to make the payment could be fined up to S / 114,928.

The Ministry of Labor and Employment Promotion (MTPE) explained that truncated bonuses are paid in proportion to the full calendar months worked in the July-December period. The term for this payment is 48 hours from the day after termination.

Special cases for this benefit

Practitioners receive a half financial subsidy when they turn 6 months, not necessarily in July and December.
