On August 28, the head of the KHL, Alexei Morozov, said that Fedotov would not be able to take part in regular season matches at the beginning of the 2023/2024 season. “At the moment, the league does not allow him to play on September 1, as there is a disqualification,” said Morozov.
On August 14, the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) suspended Fedotov for four months. CSKA banned international transfers for a year. The IIHF refused the army team to register a contract with Fedotov for the new KHL season due to the player’s current agreement with the Philadelphia Flyers club of the National Hockey League (NHL).
On July 1, Fedotov signed an agreement with CSKA. The NHL expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, as it violates the goaltender’s contract with Philadelphia, concluded in May 2022.
