The Ministry of Internal Affairs spoke about fines for DVRs on windshields

The Ministry of Internal Affairs in its Telegram channel explained the changes to the Rules of the Road that came into force on September 1 regarding the possibility of placing gadgets on the windshields of cars, which caused panic among motorists.

The ministry noted that the innovations do not involve toughening “in terms of detailing the types of violations of the visibility of the vehicle.” In this matter, the traffic police will also be guided by the previously existing criteria: in the case when the device placed by the driver on the windshield does not interfere with the view, they will not be fined for it.

The clarification expressly states that “a ban on the use of a video recorder if the specified technical device does not interfere with visibility” does not include changes in the traffic rules. According to experts, drivers should be guided by the same criteria when attaching smartphone holders and stickers to the windshield.

Recall also that the changes that have come into force include a ban on the use of cars with studded tires for three summer months, as well as the operation in December-February of cars and light trucks weighing up to 3.5 tons on summer tires. These violations will entail the application of Art. 12.5 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and will result in a warning or a fine of 500 rubles.
