During a meeting with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Oscar Vera Gargurevichrepresentatives of the Peruvian mining company Minsur SA announced their investment plans for the period 2023-2027, which total around US$2,000 million.

Juan Luis Kruger, general manager of Minsur, belonging to the Breca Grupo Empresarial holding, said that it is about the expansion and modernization of the Raura Mining Unit, located in the province of Oyón, where a new deposit has been found, whose construction will cost US$450 million.

“It is the largest investment made in the central highlands of Lima, where a new mine will be built that will have state-of-the-art technology and where US$150 million have already been invested. Next October, there will be another contribution to the project of US$60 million,” Kruger said, noting that 2,500 workers work on the project, 70% of which is local labor.

The mining businessman also maintained that, after two years of operation of Mina Justa, located in the San Juan de Marcona district, Nazca province, Ica, A new deposit has been found under this mine that will allow them to increase their reserves by 30%.

“This is the Mina Justa Subterránea project, which will be the second largest and most modern underground mine in Peru. Mina Justa Subterránea will have an investment of US$1.8 billion and the first permits for this work will be presented in the first months of next year and production is expected to begin in 2027,” he said.

Speed ​​in procedures is required

The Minsur general manager emphasized that both projects will use state-of-the-art technology in their operations with the aim of achieving zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, through the use of advanced analytics to measure energy consumption, clean or renewable sources. in camps and operations, as well as innovations with cleaner and safer vehicles.

Before concluding the meeting, the Minsur representatives asked the head of the Ministry of Energy and Mines their support regarding the permits and authorizations for the start-up of the aforementioned projects and can materialize on the dates and stages planned.

Minister Vera expressed his satisfaction with this announcement of new investments by Minsur SA “The Government’s position is to promote and support mining activity in all its phases, its contribution to economic development and partners for the country is essential,” he pointed out.
