More than 700 small producers from the parish of San José de Ayora, Canton of Cayambe, and from the Agro-Industrial Association of Faldas del Cayambe are beneficiaries of the first Center for the Development of Agriculture and Livestock in the Community (CDPAC), which was inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Eduardo Izaguirre Marin.
“This CDPAC is the result of associativeness, unity and organization that you have,” said Izaguirre and indicated that these CDPACs seek to improve agricultural production systems, based on a comprehensive management model and public-private alliances to differentiate markets, strengthening the association of concepts, creating jobs , progress and welfare for producers.
“The cooperative model is the way to transform agriculture,” said the minister, adding that the center will improve conditions for storing milk and other products and provide the possibility of a productive and competitive offer.

The center has a production space for installing three cooling tanks, each with a capacity of up to two thousand liters of milk. It will also have a laboratory for milk quality analysis; and the office.
In addition, it will enable the state to provide comprehensive care. There is room for various government entities to offer their services in capacity building, business plans and roads; pre-professional practices and literacy campaigns; clinics for preventive medical and dental brigades; vaccination and nutrition campaigns.
Similar centers will be built in Cotopaxi, Tungurahua and Chimborazo.
In this case, the authorities also supplied a milk collection center with a subsidy of $6,304; two tractors to the Santo Domingo community and the Faldas del Cayambe Agro-Industrial Association. ASOFALCAY 2, with grants of $61,519, benefiting nearly 300 producers.
