Private sector increased hydrocarbon production from 125,000 to 37,000 bpd, warn Petroperú unions

The Petroperú trade union organizations (SUTRAPEP-OC, SUNTRAPESA, SITRAPP, SITRAREPP and SSERPPOS) issued a joint statement, in which they expressed their concern over the aggressive campaign launched by the private sector in response to the announcement of Perupetro to qualify the state oil company to assume blocks I, VI and Z2B without partners.

In addition, They remarked that in the hands of private sector companies, hydrocarbon production fell dramatically from 125,000 barrels per day (MBD) to the poor 37 MBD that we have today.. This -they explain- has motivated uNo great damage to the national economy, having to import more than 200 MBD to meet domestic demand and thereby have an economic impact on fuel prices.

In addition, they warn that another damage has meant the contract model made by Perupetro with private companies, which, with the license contract, forced the state-owned Petroperú to pay international prices for the little crude oil extracted in the country, as if it were a product foreign.

“Citizens hope that the political decision made by the Ministry of Energy and Mines is maintained to ensure that Petroperú obtains about 25 MBD at cost price, in such a way that the conditions of workers in the sector who currently work in outsourced companies are improved. making wages precarious, leading them to a situation of semi-slavery,” the workers said.

Finally, they point out that all the private companies that operated have exploited the proven reserves left by Petroperú, when it was privatized. Today Petroperú only operates block I, which was temporarily transferred for 23 months from December 2021, a term that expires next October.
